Michael Collie Backstory

Clinical Assistant Professor Michael Collie received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology/Sociology
from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville in 1983.

He received his Master’s in Social Work degree from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 1998.

Professor Collie has served as instructor within the University of Arkansas School of Social Work since 2007; he has had a full-time appointment in the School since August 2009. Professor Collie has been working in the field of Social Work for the past 30 years in various capacities, from mental health paraprofessional, to Clinical Director of 3 hospitals and 6 outpatient clinics.

Professor Collie has worked in most areas of social work practice.

Since receiving his MSW and licensure as an LCSW he is currently co-owner of Collie Clinical Consulting, conducts training for public schools and social service agencies and provides CEU seminars for Mental Health Professionals. Professor Collie has taught Advanced Practice with
Individuals, Advanced Practice with Couples and Families, Practice 1, Field Seminar, Advanced Practice in Mental Health, Foundations for Culturally Competent Social Work, and Addictions and the Family
