A Vote for Justice

Community Prompt:
We urge Congress to enact, and the President to support and to sign, legislation such as the Americans with Disability Act of 1988, which will effectively protect all persons with disabilities against discrimination on basis of handicap.

We, therefore, urge the establishment of those basic human support systems necessary to make rights real in every day life, and which will enable all people with disabilities to achieve their full potential for independence, productivity and quality of life in the mainstream of society

Missing in Action

Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Request Required
[superquote]It’s Our Story would love to have a conversation with you about becoming a Freedom of Information Act partner to locate the original ADA Diaries from Georgia so they can become accessible to all who have access to the online world.[/superquote]Our strategy for the FOIA request is to have one person from each of the missing States organize a few key disability leaders in their communities to draft a letter of support to attach to our request in addition to cc’ing this FOIA request to our elected officials in Washington D.C. for a political boost.

IOS is working with University of Massachusetts/Amherst Special Collections as an archive
partner to house the originals which to date have been lost in the government vaults since 2001.
The ARC of Washington D.C. has the printing and scanning capacity to make these documents
ready for online transcription and were instrumental in making the current pdf files available.
